Bike trails to visit Burgundy

One hour from Paris on the TGV, enjoy a getaway surrounded by fields and vines! Burgundy, its remarkable heritage, its rolling hills, its world-renowned vineyards and its gastronomy are all in reach on two wheels. Burgundy has nearly 1000 km of marked and secured trails, most of which are included in the “Tour de Bourgogne à vélo®” route. By choosing one of the 5 major routes (the Voie Verte in southern Burgundy, the Canal du Centre, the Canal du Nivernais, the Canal de Bourgogne and the Voie des Vignes from Santenay to Beaune) you can discover Burgundy from a different point of view, at your own pace.
From our hotel in Montbard, there is no shortage of bike routes! The Canal de Bourgogne from Tonnerois to the Pay de l’Auxois offers 212 km of superb views. Characterful villages and wooded landscapes punctuate this peaceful holiday destination. You can ride along the canal’s towpaths, in combination with calm little roads, from Migennes to Dijon, on a bike or even better on a hybrid bike, taking in all the surrounding tourist sites.
From Montbard, you can choose from short and long trails to discover with your loved ones: to Venary-les-Laumes 13.3 km away (around an hour and a quarter) towards the Mont-Auxois dominated by the statue of Vercingetorix or on the other side to Ancy-le-Franc 25.5 km away (around three hours) at the heart of the wooded hills.
The Abbey of Fontenay, less than 7 km from the hotel, is also the perfect destination to enjoy a bicycle ride as a family.
